Pacific Road Runners First Half 1/2 MarathonPublished by
Last Sunday, February 10th 2013, a number of Point Grey athletes had strong performances in the Pacific Road Runners “First Half” Half Marathon. The scenic course, which starts and finishes at the Roundhouse Community Centre, goes out onto the Seawall towards English bay and around Stanley Park. The conditions were almost perfect with clear sunny skies, light wind, and 3-5 degree temperatures.
On the Men’s side Dylan Gant, coming back from an injury in the summer, lead the charge with a new personal best of 1:09:02, placing 8th overall and 3rd in the Men’s 25-29 age category! Gant rolled through 10km in 32:35 in 8th place and showed his strength running solo to the finish maintaining his position. Ryan Huff made his half marathon debut on Sunday finishing strong in 11th place overall (4th in Men’s 25-29), clocking a 1:12:14. Close on Huff’s heals, Aaron Weidman and Trevor Feeney placed 19th (1st in Men’s 20-24) in 1:15:02 and 21st (6th in Men’s 30-34) in 1:15:18 respectively. Master’s runner Rob Watt also competed on Sunday clocking a 1:29:11 for 168th place (11th in Men’s 50-54). On the Women’s side representing Point Grey, Jen Moroz finished 80th (2nd in Women’s 25-29) in a time of 1:24:16.
